Collaboration between Microsoft and Apple products has always been a welcome development for users. The latest update makes it even easier for iOS and iPadOS users to access shared Microsoft Office files without needing to log into a Microsoft account.
Seamless File Viewing
Previously, recipients could open shared Office files in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on the web without a Microsoft account. Now, this capability extends to the mobile apps on iPhones and iPads. Users can open and view shared documents directly in the apps without signing in. However, editing or commenting still requires logging into a Microsoft account
Effortless Sharing
To share files, ensure you’re using Office version 2.94 (Build 25020422). Follow these steps:
- Open the file in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint.
- Tap “Share” and select “Link settings.”
- Choose either “Anyone with the link can edit” or “Anyone with the link can view.”
- Copy the link or share it via email.

Benefits for Users
This update simplifies collaboration by allowing recipients to review content on their mobile devices without hurdles. Whether it’s documents, spreadsheets, or presentations, sharing is now more user-friendly than ever.
This improvement highlights Microsoft’s commitment to enhancing cross-platform compatibility and user convenience.
